Platelet-rich fibrin is one of the newer treatments available for patients with hair loss. PRF stimulates regeneration of the hair follicle. A small sample of the patient’s blood is spun in a centrifuge and divided into separate components to create PRF. Activation of the PRP releases at least eight different growth factors that heal injured tissue. These growth factors work like magic to promote angiogenesis (or the formation of new blood vessels), improve blood flow, and are the key to rejuvenating the hair follicle and stimulating local cell growth.

The concentrated platelets in PRF contain bioactive proteins, including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor) and VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor). These growth factors initiate and accelerate tissue repair and positively affect hair loss. Step-By-Step

  1. PRF APPLICATION
    There are two treatment options for Hair Restoration with PRF. We concentrate PRF on the areas with the most hair thinning. The PRF will diffuse underneath the scalp surface to treat regions distal to the injection site. The injections take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
    1. Apply PRF serum after Microneedling the scalp area.
    2. Inject PRF directly into the scalp.
  2. RECOVERY
    The recovery from the procedure is typically uneventful. It is common to feel soreness in the scalp, which usually resolves in less than a day. We encourage you to take a hot shower the day of the procedure, improving blood flow to the scalp. We recommend avoiding non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as Advil, Aleve, and Ibuprofen, for 72 hours.
  3. REPEAT
    Our treatment protocol consists of 1 treatment every month for three months (this is considered a “loading dose” of PRF), followed by one treatment every three months until we reach desired hair growth.
